So this time, what I was involved in was not a competition but this world-class event . I feel kinda lucky for being part of the performing forces before I leave for Shanghai, coz I'm missing the chance of going to Pattaya for the annual international chorus competition this coming july. So this was the last performance I had with the choir. Venue? The Esplanade again. Cool!

The musis was conducted by him,  Mr. Arnie Roth, the grammy award winning conductor. Play! @ Esplanade was an Asian Premiere. I suppose this is his first regional conducting experience. The world premiere of PLAY! was at Chicago last year, played by his own orchestra. Due to overwhelming response for the PLAY! @ Singapore, additional matinee show was arranged to make it to a total of 3 sessions as an inauguration of the Singapore Arts Festival 2007. So, we got the chance to enjoy the music 3 times, and of course we had to sing thrice as well. 2.5hours/show, i.e 7.5hours being on the stage with no empty seat seen infront of us in the Concert Hall. The feeling was great. Not tensed at all though, coz there was over a hundred of us on the stage. large performing group. We didn't really know each other but were reaching for the same goal -- to wow the audience. There was live camera feed throughout. 3 screens were on top of us, constantly showing some classical video game scenes and live footages. The stage somewhat looked like this:

After the end of the very last session, the audiences encored so madly that we performed One-Winged Angel once more for the 2nd encore. And that was the last piece for the whole concert.

终于有张像样的全家福。

我们这一代。最左边的肥田不是肥，而是怀有小Carol了。

package是贵了点，但总算是有了一本期待已久的家庭相簿。想看更多，可到部落格相簿翻一翻。

The designs really squeezed my brain juice till the last drop. The pages will be published in Temasek Hall's Hall Annual soon. The first page is a tribute to fellow graduating friends while the second page features our tioman trip. This is to let other people know how much fun we had had in the trip. No doubt I'm a design noob. But I really have tried my best. Learned a lot throughout the 2-week design period though. yes, 2 weeks, = design noob. hahaha. The printout colour is different from on-screen colour as I was refering to laptop screen to do the designs. Clement the design expert advised that I should use desktop flat screen, or at least a CRT (cathode ray tube if i'm not mistaken, the curved screen type) monitor to obtain a near-to-accurate colour display. But i didn't, coz sometimes I brought along my IBM to Starbucks @ Leisure Mall to act like a free-lance designer and continue with the design works, hoping that I would obtain more inspirations at outdoor. I had wasted 30+ on coffee and hot chocs for these two pages already, excluding the printing costs spent for colour accuracy checks after every adjustment made. wow, haha never mind lar. After all, I promised to do the sai gang. two weeks of holiday gone.

So why have I chosen the first design? Hmm..it looks fun, and graduation is supposed to be a happy turning point of one's life, although I admit that withdrawal symptom is felt by fellow graduates. I'm sure I will have that feeling too 2 years later. Moreover, it's a student design, need not to be so corporate-look. But the 3 powerpuff girls whom I first consulted with regarding the choices to make voted for design no.2. Lastly, I asked May. She shared the same taste as me. Design no.1 ! I think I just need other's recognition before I could proceed with my own decision without any worries. Finalization then started. :o

Most of the time was wasted on photos selections, cropping and arrangements. Tonnes of photos to choose from, and I had limited space for them. although the page looks complicated, the photos are meant to help recall the fun moments they had in uni life as well as to celebrate friendships. So I've sacrificed my time and contributed my limited skills for these reasons. Not a free-lance designer anymore. Free labour here instead. I almost touched up every single photo used, until i got frustrated. yushun's t.tennis action pix is one of the best edited picture. the raw image really cannot make it for the page. So, 5 of you, try to like the page if you don't. Try la. This is what I can give as your graduation gift. Priceless rite? :0

The Tioman Page

Haha. Actually It looks much better than what I've ever expected before I started to design the page. At least, I feel the joy and excitement after looking at the page, and this is exactly the objective I've wanted to achieve. In fact, it looks even more fun than the trip actually was. Wow this is the power of packaging haha. My initial idea was to make it look like a tourism advertisement on magazine. Do you think it looks like one?

Different blue background colours.

Actually I prefer over the blue versions, particularly the first one. It's the first design. It looks great on the screen, but the background on the printout is much darker than what is shown here. So to play safe, the clear version was picked for the hall annual. But more flaw is exposed on the clear version. you may go and spot them. I kept using different photos and arranging them again and again until it turns out to be in this beautiful(i think) 'number-2' structure which I think is worth spending so much time for. Everyone is included in the photos. This is in fact an important consideration factor when doing selections.

Too many nonsense. Lastly, thanks to Weide for the patience of waiting for the submission of the designs, kelly, chooying and sheau yun for the comments, and of course you who contributed your own smiling face to make the designs better pieces of works. One more thing. I use that picture as the background not because I'm in that picture ok ;D . It's just too suitable to be used as a wonderful background.

The event was one month ago and I think I should post some photos here before I move on to some of the more recent updates in my life. This post could have been done better if I did it much earlier, like few days right after the trip. But now, the enthusiasm has subsided. I'll try my best but I'm sure I won't write much about it anymore. Why not just share with you some of the pictures taken during the trip. hopefully those who are reading this would still feel the fun.

The trip was initiated by marilyn the great, and the whole gang was comprised of 18 fun lovers like us. Particularly, the girls were extremely excited about the trip as Brandon was part of the forces.
