@ UCC Lobby

Received Wenie's call after the NUS Choir guest performance for the Combined Hall Acapella Concert -- Amplitude 2007 on Sunday night at UCC. There was a 15-min intermission right after the item. She asked me to get to the lobby immediately to join them for some snapshots!

from the left: me, jyh woei, wenie, marilyn, and LK.

slanted shot by wenie.

huh? so happy for what?!

let's lift it up one more time with marilyn! all support on my foot one?

All photos above were courtesy of Marilyn.

Before the photo taking session, NUS Choir put up two songs entitled 'What A Wonderful World' and 'Night And Day' for the concert. This could be my last performance with the choir this year as i might be going for NOC in July. Wish you guys all the best for the International Choral Competition @ Pattaya in July!

The end.             Wait!!

Does the event have anything to do with the music school? Nope, it simply means that we could take photos EVERYWHERE we want, because we are with Marilyn :0. And Jyh Woei is actually standing right in the middle of the road to take the shot !!!  Sunday night, no car mah.

;)

After more than 2 weeks of waiting, they replied! Since last week, I got nervous everytime when I checked my NUS mailbox, coz I knew there would be reply sent to my mailbox anytime around this period. Just yesterday, sister called. She asked whether I have got the offer as she was planning for a family Hong Kong trip in July or August. It was the last day of the MATA Fair. If we missed the booking, the trip couldn't be as cheap anymore. Sorry for not being able to confirm my availability coz the decision was not up to me to make. So eventually, we got to say bye bye to our first family overseas trip.

But today, when I checked my mailbox again for the second time at around 4+ in the library, finally I saw the word "NOC" in the subject title of a new e-mail. It was the reply. I held my breathe while looking to the content. The first line read Congratulations! You have been.... ! wuhu, I passed the second round of interview for NOC !!! NUS let me in! Now left only the third round of interview by Shanghai company's staff! Can't believe I passed the second round! I happily got out of library to make calls to tell dad, mum and sis. Mother even told me that she just came back from temple to pray for me.

Just 2 weeks ago, I received a mail from my faculty that stated that I was not chosen by any participating company for the coming Vacation Internship Programme. At that time, I consoled myself that maybe because I would be chosen for NOC later? I feel that everything is destined to happen this way for me. What a supertitiously-minded thought.

Nevertheless, there is a serious concern. I would have to do my civil engineering final year project only after one year of Shanghai experience which has no relation with my current engineering discipline at all. It's worrying that I might have forgotten a lot of the fundamental engineering knowledge that is truely needed for the most important project for my undergraduate course. Damn, I can't care too much of it. Like what Ah Su said, 船到桥头自然直. After all, everything is yet to be confirmed. There's still a final round of interview to go through. If I was not selected by then, no more worries about my fyp anymore. Of course this would sound quite sad as well as I would have failed in the final stage, but I'll tell myself that at least I have gone through the first two rounds by NUS successfully, and no regret for that coz at least I tried my best. Moreover, I could be going to Hong Kong with family in July as our very first whole-family overseas trip. Whatever that may happen will always has its good side!

What A Wonderful World

Baby Matthew. You look so cute yet large as a newborn baby.

I received the MMS when I was in CFA practice room. Good news came from Jeremy that the baby has been successfully delivered by Michelle. Matthew finally said hello to us , and Michelle didn't have to undergo cesarean in the end.

Coincidently, when I was opening the message, all of us were singing What A Wonderful World, exactly on the line "I hear babies cry, I watch them grow....they'll learn much more than I'll ever know". It makes me realize that sometimes, coincidences are wonderful. The song went on... And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

Congratulations to Michelle for becoming one of the greatest mothers in the world, and Jeremy for first becoming a Daddy!
Hmm...when will you call me uncle?

Good Concert, everyone!

Bunting @ UCC Entrance                                                                                    Sun, 4th March

Finally the concert is over. Good show good show. It is worth all the hard work in practising and memorizing the songs. Misa Brevis and Te Deum -- Alien language to me, can't believe I have sung it - Latin or Spain? I don't know what I was singing, but they just flew out from my brain. The power of human brain, wow. I was impressed by myself waha.

Final practice in CFA studio with Adyll on 5 African-American spirituals before moving to UCC.

First trial run on the stage.

So hungry, still smiling.                            Shit, where's the sheet?             "Eh, your girlfriend coming?"; "Eerm...."

Ah.. part of our world-class sop and alto babes...                                                        Yes, that's me on the right.

Monotones.... by Martin.

"Tu So....Lus...Al...Ti...Si Mus...Alleluya le lu ya..Alleluya le lu ya.."

Te Deum.

Post concert......

No more practice! Let's say goodbye to NWC for the time being.          Met Charles the perfect 'pitcher' at lobby.

Finally,

Xiu Gui and Dai Da as supporters!

Great performance and teamwork, fellow choir mates! I suppose the best reward after so much practice was Nelson's smile of satisfaction after conducting the very last song Linden Lea for the encho . I think we didn't fail him at last. Great job!
